CHANEL 2.55

Every girl know who and what was Coco Chanel, and know what mean number 2.55 . This number is name for best bag.

For this bag:

In the 1920s, Coco Chanel became tired of having to carry her handbags in her arms and decided to design a handbag that freed up her hands. Inspired by the straps found on soldiers’ bags she added thin straps and introduced the resulting design to the market in 1929. After her successful comeback to the fashion industry in 1954, Chanel decided to update her handbag, for the modern women. The resulting design was called 2.55 after the date of creation, February 1955.

The bag has a number of features:

  • The lining’s burgundy colour represents the colour of the uniforms at the convent where she grew up.
  • There is a zippered compartment at the inside of the front flap. That’s where Coco Chanel hid her love letters (from her lover at the time).
  • The backside has a back outside flap for storage of money.
  • Chanel recognising that the modern women needed to have their hands free while attending social functions designed a double chain shoulder strap, something common in downmarket products, but rare in luxury circles at the time. The chains were attached by leather-threaded chain inserted though eyelets. The caretakers of the convent she grew up at hold the keys at their waist dangling from the same type of chains as the 2.55 shoulder strap chains.
  • The bag originally came with a front lock called “the Mademoiselle Lock” (in reference to Coco Chanel never marrying). Since the 1980s, versions can also be supplied with a lock in the shape of a double CC logo. These called “Classic Flaps”.

  • The bag has a quilted diamond or herringbone pattern on the exterior. Using a running stitch, this gives the bag shape and volume. The pattern is believed to have been inspired by several sources: by jockeys’ riding coats, the stained-glass windows of the abbey at Aubazine, as well as by the cushions in Chanel’s Paris apartment.

New Year's Day - U2

New Year's Day (song)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"New Year's Day" is a song by rock band U2. It is on their 1983 album War and it was released as the album's lead single in January 1983. Written about the Polish Solidarity movement, "New Year's Day" is driven by Adam Clayton's distinctive bassline and The Edge's keyboard playing. It was the band's first UK hit single, peaking at #10 on the singles chart, #11 on the Dutch Top 40 and charting on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in their career. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine placed the single at #427 on their list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time".This song was also included in the Pitchfork 500.

 Writing and composition

The lyric had its origins in a love song from Bono to his wife, but was subsequently reshaped and inspired by the Polish Solidarity movement.
In 1983, Bono said of the song, "It would be stupid to start drawing up battle lines, but I think the fact that 'New Year's Day' made the Top Ten indicated a disillusionment among record buyers. I don't think 'New Year's Day' was a pop single, certainly not in the way that Mickie Most might define a pop single as something that lasts three minutes and three weeks in the chart. I don't think we could have written that kind of song."

 Live performances

"New Year's Day" is U2's fifth most frequently performed live song, with The Edge switching back and forth between piano and guitar during the song. In some early performances, Bono also played guitar. It has been a standard on every U2 tour since its debut on 1 December 1982 at the first show of the War Tour's Pre-Tour. During the 1980s, The Edge used a Fender Stratocaster to perform this song, along with a keyboard. During the 1990s and 2000s, he has alternated between a Gibson Les Paul Custom and Les Paul Standard. The Les Paul the Edge used to write this song was sold for charity. Up until the Elevation Tour, Clayton normally used a chorus effect on his bass guitar for this song live.
"New Year's Day" has appeared on U2 concert video releases including 1983's Live at Red Rocks: Under a Blood Red Sky, Zoo TV: Live from Sydney, PopMart: Live from Mexico City, U2 Go Home: Live from Slane Castle, Vertigo 2005: Live from Chicago, Live from Paris, and U2 3D.
The B-side of "New Year's Day", "Treasure (Whatever Happened to Pete the Chop?)", was never performed live. However, an early version known simply as "Pete the Chop" was played at some concerts in 1980.
During the Vertigo Tour at Silesian Stadium in Poland a quite remarkable example of fan action occurred. During New Year's Day, the lower sections of the crowd waved red coloured items while other sections waved white, creating the Polish flag and stunning the band. This was repeated during the U2 360° Tour at the same venue.

New Year's Day

U2

Yeah...
All is quiet on New Year's Day.
A world in white gets underway.
I want to be with you, be with you night and day.
Nothing changes on New Year's Day.
On New Year's Day.
I... will be with you again.
I... will be with you again.
Under a blood-red sky
A crowd has gathered in black and white
Arms entwined, the chosen few
The newspaper says, says
Say it's true, it's true...
And we can break through
Though torn in two
We can be one.
I... I will begin again
I... I will begin again.
Oh, oh. Oh, oh. Oh, oh.
Oh, maybe the time is right.
Oh, maybe tonight.
I will be with you again.
I will be with you again.
And so we are told this is the golden age
And gold is the reason for the wars we wage
Though I want to be with you
Be with you night and day
Nothing changes
On New Year's Day
On New Year's Day
On New Year's Day

I Love Smokey Eyes

Get Smokey Eyes

By Faith Lawless, About.com Guide

See More About:

You should always only play up one feature (eyes or lips, not both), then why not throw a great gloss on your pout and make your eyes look hot by using these great smokey eyes makeup tips?
Here we will give you a quick and very easy guide to creating a great smoky look, without having to be an expert makeup artist. Plus, if your budget is virtually non-existent, we will help remedy this by supplying tips for affordable color as well as multi-use products.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 6-7 Minutes

Here's How:

  1. Apply your other makeup first. Skip adding concealer under your eyes though, since eyeshadow “fallout” will get trapped there and make your eyes look dark. Instead, apply your concealer after you finish your eyes. Also, make sure you get your blush in place before starting your eyes. When you have blush on your cheeks, it helps you to not overly makeup your eye area.
  2. Prime your eye lids. You should set a good base for the eyeshadow to lie on, so prime your eye lids by using an eyeshadow base, or in order to save money you can use an oil-free concealer or foundation. After applying the primer, allow it to dry before beginning your shadow.
  3. Apply a neutral colored base shadow. This should be applied over your entire eye lid, from lash to brow bone. Choose a good neutral beige that will basically blend in well. If possible, find one with a shimmer, not a glitter.
  4. Line your eyes. Using a black eye pencil, line the entire eye, upper lid and lower lash line. Get as close to your lashes as possible, and use your fingertip to move your lid around in order to get the liner into your lashline.
  5. Soften the liner. By using a small eyeshadow brush, or in a pinch you can use a Q-tip, gently go over the liner to help soften the effect.
  6. Apply black eyeshadow. Use either the sponge-tipped applicator that comes with eyeshadow, or a Q-tip, to apply black powder eyeshadow over the now softened eyeliner. Only do the top lid for now, since you have not applied your under eye concealer yet. Once you apply the eyeshadow, use the applicator, the Q-tip, or your finger to gently smudge the shadow.
  7. Apply your general shadow. You will need to choose a nice brown or gray shadow to apply to your eyelid area. If you can’t decide, go for one that is a combination of both, such as Max Factor MAXeye in Connoisseur. You should apply the color with either the applicator or an eyeshadow brush, starting at the lash line and going to the crease of your lid, and ending directly under your brow bone. The basic effect will look like an oval when you close your eye, more or less.
  8. Sweep under your eyes. Use a powder brush, or cotton balls, to sweep away any eyeshadow from under your eye area. With this done, you can apply your concealer and powder.
  9. Apply black shadow to bottom. Just as in step 6, apply a black powder shadow to the softened eye liner, with an applicator or Q-tip, then smudge.
  10. Encircle your eye with the general shadow. Using the shadow you selected for step 7, gently and gradually blend the eyeshadow into a circle around your eye area. This means applying and smudging the shadow under the eyes as well. Just make sure not to go too far under the eye or you will get the raccoon effect.
  11. Coat your lashes with black mascara. Try using a good black mascara, such as Maybelline Colossal Mascara in Black, and make sure to apply 2-3 coats on top and at least 2 on bottom.
  12. Check your work. Once your mascara is dried, check your work and blend any areas that stand out. Now is also a good time to gently sweep your powder brush, or cotton balls, under your eyes to remove any of the additional eyeshadow “fallout” from steps 9 and 10.

Tips:

  1. To save even more money, find a black eyeshadow that works well wet and use it as your eye liner too, such as Max Factor MAXeye in Precious Metals.
  2. Don’t be afraid to use color, instead of brown or gray for your general eyeshadow. Dark blues and dark greens are always great to use for a smokey eye look, but also gives some fun color as well. Try to find one that goes with your dress.
  3. To add a little extra fun to your lashes, use a black mascara as a base and then apply a colored mascara to the tips.
  4. Adding a little shimmer to a smokey eye can be fun. So try a shimmer pod, such as Bon Bons, and add a little to the corner of your eyes, under your brow, and directly above the pupil on your lid.
  5. The biggest tip is to remember to play down your lips since you played up your eyes. Try putting a neutral, lip-toned, liner on your lips and then a little gloss.

What You Need:

  • Eyeshadow base or an oil-free concealer or foundation
  • A neutral base shadow (a slight shimmer is okay)
  • Black eyeshadow (finding one you can wet can take the place of the black eyeline
  • Black Eyeliner (see black eyeshadow first)
  • A general eyeshadow, such as brown or gray (for fun use a dark jeweled color)
  • A good mascara
  • Sponge tip applicators, eyeshadow brush, or Q-tips
